Growing Champions

If connected to a business Growing Champions athletes will receive $3,750 annually for up to three years, to use towards training, competition, travel and equipment expenses.

Growing Champions aims to share your stories of challenges and triumphs to inspire businesses and people outside of sport.

How it works

• Apply to Growing Champions during an intake period
• If you are accepted we will produce a profile of you for the Growing Champions website and attempt to connect you with a business
• If you are connected with a business you will receive $3,750 for the next three years and we will help you interact with your sponsor

Eligibility

Like to apply for Growing Champions, do you meet the following criteria?

• Registered with Canadian Sport Centre Pacific/PacificSport and in good standing with your Provincial Sport Organization (PSO), Multi-Sport Organization (MSO), and/or National Sport Organization (NSO)
• Are in a summer or winter sport, a national level athlete (who is not nationally carded) or a provincial-level athlete demonstrating potential to qualify for a Canadian national team
• Demonstrated involvement in your community

Growing Champions and the NCAA

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) organizes and governs athletic programs in many colleges and universities in the United States and is the largest collegiate athletic organization in the world. You may have heard of the NCAA because of its association with college-level football and basketball in the United States.

Growing Champions has contacted the NCAA and was informed it will not be granted status as an accredited sports organization under their rules. Therefore, an athlete receiving funding from Growing Champions may be considered ineligible for amateur status in the NCAA in both their current sport and in other sports.
